NHRDN South Gujarat decided to organise Industrial Relations Conclave in September and they made me Conclave Director [whatever it means!]. There are times when it is impossible to say NO, and if Himanshu Bhatt, the President of NHRDN South Gujarat makes you any request, you find yourself in that situation.
Conferences are often not-so-value-adding events. But this one was an excpetion. Thanks to Himanshu and his team [actually 'army' is a better word - they work with that commitment and discipline].
Sharad Gangal, Head HR of Thermax spoke very well. He was mobbed by people after his speech.
Vikas Shirodkar is not only a great speaker but he brings extra excitement when he is speaking in Gujarat. Thanks to his earlier stint with Atul. He sprinkles Gujarati words and proverbs in his speech with telling effect. This jugalbandi was a treat to the audience.
On the next day Aswinbhai Hathi spoke on Industrial Disputes and I must tell you that I have never heard such an excellent commentary on the ID Act. Who ever thought that it can be a drab subject?
The climax came with Arvind Shrouti speaking about the current IR issues. He received a thunderous applause thrice in his speech and was mobbed by audience for quite sometime to have a word with him. I have heard Arvidn Shrouti speaking at seminars a few times, but this was a memorable speech.
The event ended by felicitating two stalwarts: Mr Sanat Mehta and Mr Hansubhai Dave.
A great and memorable event.
